ABOUT.
ABOUT randy.
Randy was born in Cadillac, MI and also spent his childhood in Wooster, OH. After completing high school, he felt a strong pull back to his roots in Northern Michigan. He earned his Associate’s Degree at Northwestern Michigan College and a Bachelor’s Degree in Organizational Management through Spring Arbor University.
Randy conceptualized and designed a logo in 2010 that sought to represent himself and others in a similar way who wanted to create and pave their own path in life. Stars in the northwest lower peninsula of Michigan where he was born, matched with vertical black and white stripes. He labeled it MIFLAG (pronounced “My-Flag”). Randy began sewing his logo on every hat he sold and donated. With a core goal of empowerment, he generously donated hundreds of hats to underprivileged kids in cities like Lansing, Flint, Grand Rapids, and Detroit. Randy’s hats have been supported and worn by a few of his favorite artists Mike Posner, Ryan Hurd, and The Accidentals.
Randy worked as a booking manager for a small format venue/music studio, organizing concerts for Michigan-based artists. Through this, he organized a benefit concert showcasing the musical talents of two young boys which raised money for a child battling brain cancer. Additionally, Randy initiated an anti-bullying campaign named "Think Twice", providing a platform for those who had experienced bullying to share their stories and inspire others.
During the challenging times of the Covid pandemic, he utilized his brand MIFLAG to make masks and distribute them nationwide to support public health efforts. Randy also donated to the local youth center and hosted a songwriting workshop in collaboration with national touring group, The Accidentals. Beyond his dedication to giving back, Randy nurtures a diverse range of passions. Music, photography, and travel are among his interests, as well as enjoying peaceful moments on the beach and attending concerts. His love for animals is evident through the quality time he spends with his pets.
“As a recently late diagnosed autistic, I’m embracing the opportunity to further my voice within the autism community, for those facing similar challenges. I like to look at my life now as a journey full of humbling adventures. Soaring Coastal allows me to bring together a culmination of my life’s work, creatively presenting by drone photography, the places I feel most connected, in the outdoors of my home state of Michigan.”
